2 – For mine and others’ safety:

  • I’ll respect the highway code
  • I’ll check the bike over before I head out onto the road
  • I won’t overtake vehicles on the right hand side and I won’t zig zag between them
  • I’ll watch out for doors opening and pay attention to pedestrians who may step out in front of me suddenly
  • If I’m riding with other cyclists we’ll ride in single file
  • I won’t ride on pavements or the tramway platform
  • I’ll ride at walking pace in authorised pedestrian zones to avoid hindering pedestrians
  • I’ll respect traffic lights and stop signs. At red lights, I’ll use the special “bike corridor” for “turning left"
  • I’ll use my arms to indicate changes in direction
  • I’ll wear light-coloured clothing and reflective accessories to make sure I can be seen at night

Don’t forget! Priority is always given to the most vulnerable road users...
Give way to pedestrians!
